Mists of mellow fruitfulness-
mists of mystery-mists of death
mists of mystery-mists of death
Oh' the smile that breaks
at the sight of misty breath!
at the sight of misty breath!
Hark ! There is Horror
of Mist on The Mount
of Mist on The Mount
Hardly seconds or
moments one can count
moments one can count
Of Life -not of any suicide
blast this was the sound
blast this was the sound
Nor the fire, its aftermath,
nor the billowing smoke
nor the billowing smoke
Of a Tear gas shell-
who can tell after the scene of hell
who can tell after the scene of hell
like scatter of thick bestrewn sedge,
metal twisted , matter molten
metal twisted , matter molten
from edge to edge,
what was full of hope and love
what was full of hope and love
Destiny took All Above;
What Prayers were said at night
What Prayers were said at night
what fasts were kept in the day-
see the flesh burn and bodies decay-
Hopeful Sunshine seeping through faintly
hinting at the Sacred Change shaking tenderly
'trunks like tombstones tighten the barks
ready for the cold touching like sharks
Come in the shade while Autumnal Graces
last-
Come in under the shadow of the
brown yellow and red leaves-
Remember the dead tree
gives no shelter'
see the flesh burn and bodies decay-
Hopeful Sunshine seeping through faintly
hinting at the Sacred Change shaking tenderly
'trunks like tombstones tighten the barks
ready for the cold touching like sharks
Come in the shade while Autumnal Graces
last-
Come in under the shadow of the
brown yellow and red leaves-
Remember the dead tree
gives no shelter'

may there always be hope shining through
amen. Thank you Natasa
We all need that hopeful sunshine....especially when the seasons change!
Keep moving... sad but passionate work.

Sobering, the thought of the person hit with twisted metal who had likely fasted and prayed - then was so quickly snuffed out. I like your stanza about the colors of autumn - nature's beauty continues to unfold, whatever unspeakable horrors humans may be playing out on her stage.
remember the dead tree gives no shelter...how haunting that sounds...and what a contrast eh? the tear gas shell...ugh....sadly many have to deal with that...we seem sheltered from it at times....
So much sadness, but hope still shines through your words here Anjum.
Thank you Friends Mary Garon Sherry Brian and Carrie Your visit is highly appreciated.I feel so encouraged.
I agree with Brian... that line about the dead tree made me go back to it after I read the whole poem. Somewhat haunting, but hopeful line. The same can be said for the poem too I think.
Falls cleansing is at least not so harsh.
