Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs? [Noble Quran 78:6-7]
In a flash -like on angel's wings
smooth on the road the wheels
did spin
moving on through avenues
bordered by elegant trees
we flew
to the grandeur of Makhad
mountains brown 'as pegs'
head to head, conical sloping
supporting valleys
protecting with stony strength
bordering fields of mustard
yellow
makes peace in spirit and in
heart,mellow-
there is The Quiet The Presence
in mountains is the secret essence
till the Last Day
there is no sudd of the Nile
mountains shield the land
the lifeblood of Makhad
and so we stood, protected
we felt
in the valley of the North
in the Mountains of Makhad'

I enjoyed the imagery in this poem, but to me honest I did not understand some of the symbolism. The last stanza gives me a feeling of peace. Happy New Year to you.
I traveled along with you, in words and photos. I felt the mystique of those ancient mountains.
Thank you same to you

Thank you Sherry..This area is in the North of Pakistan 180 miles from Islamabad...
This is beautiful .. I like how the mountains stands as sentinels to lift the valleys.. great imagery with those pegs holding up life itself.
Yes... as you should. Well said!

Such contrasts make the valley and its spiritual wealth--the only wealth that really matters is its peace.
Thank you so much Dr Susan
