~ NAPOWRIMO ~ Day 5 ~ A 'Golden Shovel' ~ Can Oceans Suffice ? ~

Today I challenge you to write a “golden shovel.” This form was invented by Terrance Hayes in his poem, The Golden Shovel.
Inspired by poem 'Fire and Ice' by Robert Frost

                                  Can Oceans Suffice?

vast fluid expanses filled against fire
touching at the poles masses of ice
ascension to purity blocked by desire
hopes are for heaven away from hell fire
spite kills the spirit each day
not once but twice
greed anger sloth pride hate
avoid these spread love
it is not too late
why did the Lord create oceans
more than lands
because He knew a loving human heart
would like the deep oceans suffice.
